Montana Large Animal Sanctuary

& Rescue

Able,

the 1700 Pound Steer

Hello,

My name is Able and I am a 1700 pound steer. If it wasn't

for the Montana

Large Animal Sanctuary and Rescue,

I would not be around today. You see, the Sanctuary provides

homes and healthcare for neglected, unwanted or hard to care

for animals. My case was that I had a disease known as

"Lump Jaw" which caused a large growth and disfiguring

of my jaw.

A successful surgery was performed

on me in March of 1997 and I moved from Port

Townsend Washington and now

I live peacefully at my new home in northwestern Montana.

The

Sanctuary provides me and many other needy animals with a place

to be loved and cared for.For some it is the only chance

they have to live a full life.We always welcome newcomers

and look forward to helping others. We all have something in

common. Any animal with special needs, old age, or no place

to go has a loving home here with us! Another friend of

mine with an amazing story is Charlie

Russell
, a quarter horse who was dying of starvation before

the Sanctuary rescued him.
